Former Pennsylvania volunteer fire chief Corey Comperatore, 50, was killed by a sniper during an attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump at a PA Trump Rally. The shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks, wounded Trump and injured two others before being killed by law enforcement.
Corey’s sister, Dawn Comperatore Schafer, shared on Facebook, “The PA Trump Rally claimed the life of my brother, Corey Comperatore. The hatred for one man took the life of the one man we loved the most.” She described Corey as a hero who died shielding his daughter.
His daughter, Allyson, wrote, “He shielded my body from the bullet that came at us. He truly loved us enough to take a real bullet for us,” calling her father “a real-life superhero.”
Corey’s wife, Helen, expressed her grief, saying, “Yesterday, what turned out to be such an exciting day for my husband especially, turned into a nightmare for our family. He died the hero he always was.”
Corey Comperatore’s bravery and love for his family will be remembered by those who knew and loved him.
