That the relationship between the King of England and his younger son is a rocky one is something everyone is very aware of.
It all started with the decision of the Sussexes to step down from their royal duties and then things turned even more heated when Harry and Meghan were hosted by Oprah and revealed a number of things about the Firm. They accused members of the royal family for racism among the rest.
Neither William nor Charles were happy with those accusations.
Further, Harry’s all-tell memoir Spare and the couple’s Netflix documentary didn’t help matters at all.
Now, it has been revealed, however, that peace talks are about to take place and rumors are that King Charles is willing to offer an olive branch but the reason behind it isn’t the attempt to reconcile with his son and daughter-in-law as it is for the opportunity to be able to spend more time around their children, Archie and Lilibet.
Harry and Charles’ last meeting took place on May 6, the day of Charles’ coronation.
Harry’s visit, however, was a brief one. He did attended the ceremony, but wasn’t present at the lunch, and according to reports, many of the members of the royalty were relieved when they learned Harry won’t stay long in Britain.
The reason why the Prince left his homeland in such a hurry was that he wanted to attend his son’s birthday party, which was on the same day as the coronation.
In fact, if Harry stayed, it would probably be an awkward situation since he’s relationship with most of his closest relatives, including his father and brother, is still a rocky one.
Media outlets report that the King will likely invite both Harry and Meghan, as well as their children, to the celebration of his 75th birthday, despite the fact that he’s still outraged at his son for the things he has said, especially for referring to Charles’ wife as to a “wicked stepmother” and accusing her of leaking stories to the press years ago.
As per the Daily Mail, Charles’ birthday celebration would be a low-key affair, a “minimal” and “family-oriented” one.
“His Majesty is not given to fuss over such things as it is, but he is [also] acutely conscious there have been many set-piece royal events of late, and his firm thinking is that events to mark his birthday will be minimal,” a source told the Daily Mail.
In his new book OUR KING: Charles III: The Man and the Monarch, royal author Robert Jobson writes about King Charles’s anguish over his grandchildren, who are sixth and seventh in the line of succession.
Jobson claims that Archie and Lilbet are “always in Charles’ heart,” despite the fact that his relationship with Harry and Meghan made things quite challenging.
“Unfortunately, due to the poor relationship with his second son Prince Harry and his wife Meghan, Charles has spent hardly any quality time with his other grandchildren, Archie and his sister, Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor,” Jobson wrote in his book, as quoted by the Mirror.
“But those close to him say they are always in his heart. It is one of the reasons he finds the estrangement from his second son so difficult to cope with.”
Charles visited his grandson for the first time shortly after his birth when the Sussexes still resided in the UK.
“A week after Archie was born in May 2019, Charles had gone to see Harry and Meghan at Frogmore Cottage and was thrilled as he cradled the baby boy in his arms,” Jobson explains. “But even then, the Sussexes were planning their escape from the Firm.”
Charles has never visited Archie and Lili in the United Stated, where they currently live.
They, however, visited Britain together with their parents on late Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee.
The meeting between the little ones and their father’s side of the family was an emotional one, BBC reported.
“It was fantastic to see them. It was wonderful to have them back in Britain,” the source said. “The prince and the duchess were absolutely thrilled to see them. He said it was also ‘very, very special’ for [then-Prince] Charles to spend time with his grandson, Archie, now aged three.”
Reports are that Harry will be in attendance for this year’s Invictus Games in Germany next month, on September 17, and that peace talks will reportedly be held there.
“King Charles is due to return to London from Balmoral in the middle of September, which ties with the end of Harry’s Invictus Games trip to Dusseldorf,” a royal source told OK!
“The King has a rescheduled official visit to France on September 20 so has a few days to spare in London to meet with his son. Staff are trying to fine-tune the details as we speak,” the source adds.
The meeting will be first since the coronation.
“The King loves his son very much, but he has been mortally wounded by what he has done. He will always be there for him but draws the line at public slanging matches,” the source continued. “If the talks take place, the King will make it very clear that there will be absolutely no private family business discussed in public moving forward,” the source said.

Another demand which Harry will have to hear before any peace talks take place involves the king being able to see his grandson, Archie.
We hope that the members of one of the most famous and most influential families in the world would be able to smooth things down and repair what is broken.
